Manufacturing in Business Central: Can your system keep up with the shop floor?
Planning on whiteboards and costing in spreadsheets? See how Business Central brings production together.
Manufacturers need to plan accurately, react quickly to change and know what each job really costs. In this webinar, Kick will show Business Central's manufacturing features in a live system, from product structure through to the shop floor and the ledger.
Topics we'll cover include
- BOMs, routes and capacity. Business Central defines what you make with production BOMs and how you make it with routings. We will show work centres and machine centres, capacity calendars and load views. You will see where you have capacity and where you are overloaded.
- Planning, replanning and the role of the subcontractor. As demand changes, your plan needs to change with it. We will show the planning worksheet running to suggest production and purchase orders, and how to replan when orders move. We will also show the subcontracting worksheet, which sends routing operations out to suppliers and keeps them visible in the plan.
- Automation on the ground. Recording production should not slow production down. We will show how consumption and output can be posted with flushing methods and output journals. We will also show how data capture on the shop floor, using mobile devices or Power Apps, feeds Business Central directly.
- The link to finance. Every production order in Business Central carries its material, labour and overhead costs through to the ledger. We will show standard and actual costing, work in progress and the variance reporting that shows where margin is gained or lost. Finance and production then work from the same figures.
